Barbara Crawford Lecture: Guideline for Charitable Giving (PMS)

Barbara Crawford made her first quilt just before she retired from teaching in 2005. A friend from high school helped her make a small appliqued wall hanging. It hung in her home for 15 years. It is the ONLY applique project she has made!  She has created many pieced quilts over the years (and has started many more) and admits that, despite an extremely large “stash,” she prefers scrappy quilts. Most of her quilts have a touch of black, her favorite color. She started “Bee Charitable” in her home from 2008-2018 before moving to Pleasanton.  She is a proud member of Quiltinators, a friendship group affiliated with AVQ. “Quilting is all about the giving. Giving a quilt to someone in need is a win/win for the recipient and the giver.”  Barbara donates 95% of the quilts she makes!

In this PowerPoint presentation she will suggest How to Organize a Charitable Quilting Group, Inspirations/Strategies for Creating Donation Quilts, and Organizations and Agencies to receive your donations (locally and worldwide). As a bonus, she will present 50+ household items that can be used as quilting “tools.” This is her first presentation and hopes it may become a book.
