Amador Valley Quilters Birthday Celebration (PMS)

This month AVQ turns 46! To celebrate we will have a very special birthday party. Join us at Pleasanton Middle School for a birthday potluck, cake and gift exchange. More details will be provided at the January 2027 meeting and in the February 2027 newsletter.

Workshop: Quilted Kicks: Create Your Own Customer Sneakers (Bothwell Arts Center)

Colette L’Heureux has been a member of Amador Valley Quilters since 2023. By day, she works as a Civil Engineer, but on the weekends, she trades her blueprints for bobbins. While she is a seasoned pro at teaching fellow engineers in the workplace, she is thrilled to be merging her two worlds for her first official quilting class. Colette is a maker who never shies away from a technical challenge. If there isn’t a manual, she’ll write one—a trait that led her to reverse-engineer an Instagram post into a full-blown shoemaking process. Her engineering mindset ensures she’s willing to figure out the “how” behind any project, and she loves helping others navigate the transition from flat fabric to functional, 3D art.

Step out in style with a pair of shoes as unique as your favorite quilt! In this workshop, you will learn how to transform a quilt sandwich into durable, wearable footwear. Whether you use a single favorite print or a mini-masterpiece of pieced scraps, you’ll leave with a custom pair of sneakers and the skills to make more.
